All paper submissions should be prepared using one of the BMDJ templates, available for download here. To prepare the initial submission, export your paper in pdf format and submit it to review via the OpenScienceLink platform.
Fonts, sizes, and the style for headings, figure and table captions are defined in the article template.
For the references, BMDJ applies the Style Guide of the US National Library of Medicine (NLM), that serves as the foundation for the reference style approved by the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals, a product of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). For detailed guidance authors are advised to consult the second edition of Citing Medicine: the NLM Style Guide for Authors, Editors, and Publishers.
Citation in text
Number each instance when referencing an article or another source. The order of numbering will be contingent on the order in which you use that reference within your paper. Numbers are in superscript, separated by commas when two or more sources are referenced. Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa).
List of references
All referenced sources are listed after the text and numbered consequtively, in the order they are cited in the text.
Please consult the NLM Style Guide on the proper formatting. This list of sample references corresponds to the NLM guide, and may speed up the preparation of your manuscript.
